Faculty of Law UB in cooperation with DPD RI Held Focus Group Discussion

Malang (1/6/2015) the Regional Representative Council of the Republic of Indonesia or better known as DPD RI  in collaboration with three prestigious University in Indonesia (Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), University of Andalas, and Brawijaya University) hold a Forum Group Discussion (FGD). This activity is implemented as an effort of DPD to conduct public hearings related to the Draft Law (RUU) about Land which is being formulated, because the bill (RUU) is one of the priorities of DPD so that input from all parties is neccessary.

In cooperation with the Constitutional Law (Hukum Tata Negara), Faculty of Law UB, the FGD taken with the theme “Empirical Research about Bill of Land Law” was held in Auditorium A FH UB. There are 2 experts appear as speakers, namely Imam Kuswahyono, SH. Hum, a doctoral candidate in the field of agrarian law and a member of expert team of DPD RI, as well as Prof. Dr. Suhariningsih, SH. SU., Chairman of the Agrarian Law Development Centre. The event brings participants from various groups including professors, students, notaries, representatives of the National Land Agency (BPN) all around Malang, as well as from various NGOs. The Dean of the Faculty of Law UB, Dr. Rachmad Safa’at, SH., M.Sc., who gave an opening speech at the event said that it is very important to do research on efforts to draw up a preliminary draft of Land Law is primarily to examine the direction, whether siding with the people or to the investors. If the law is tended with the investors then the interests of the people will not be accommodated completely in the future. He also hoped that this FGD can produce inputs that may be a consideration for DPD in the effort of making the Land law Bill.
